Be a great role model for your child!

Children will learn to love eating fruits and veggies when they see you eat them.   Show your child that you love to eat healthy and they will too!  Here are some tips for being a great role model for your child:

  • Take your child grocery shopping.   Kids love to go to the grocery store.  Talk to your child about the different types of foods like fruits, veggies, dairy, grains and protein foods.  Pick new fruits and veggies to try at home.
  • Be creative in the kitchen.  Let your child help prepare foods with you and they will be more likely to eat them.
  • Focus on the family during meal times.  Turn off the television and other electronic devices during meal times.  Have each family member talk about their day while they eat.
  • Offer your child choices at dinner.   Allow your child to make choices at meal times.  Give them two veggies to choose to eat.  Ask them to try two bites of a food.  If they don't like it, it's okay!
